Our Impact

All students—no matter where they live, how much money their parents earn, or the color of their skin — have the right to a quality education. Increasingly, researchers are confirming what parents, students, school leaders and teachers have long known: that the quality of a student’s teachers has a tremendous impact on academic outcomes. No intervention at the school level has more potential to improve student performance than hiring outstanding teachers.*

To that end, TeacherNex was developed as a direct response to the issue of pervasive vacancies in high-need schools. The ultimate goal for TeacherNex is to ensure that there is a committed, high-quality teacher in every classroom. With excellent teachers and strong instructional teams, schools can close the achievement gap that disadvantages poor and minority children

For the 2009-10 school year, TeacherNex will operate solely in Newark and work with a group of charter and district schools. Through our services, we hope to realize several measureable outcomes:

  • An extensive pool of teacher candidates who specifically meet school needs and are committed to remaining in the classroom
  • School-level hiring decisions made using detailed applicant data and matching characteristics
  • Hundreds of school vacancies filled with dedicated, high-quality teachers
