Newark’s students are in critical need of highly qualified teachers, with both deep content knowledge and a commitment to closing the achievement gap. You could be one of them.

TeacherNex is accepting applications from certified teachers in all subject areas. Newark, however, has a particular need for candidates in the shortage subject areas of math, science, special education, and bilingual education.

Academic achievement in the fields of mathematics and science is an urgent concern, both nationally and here in Newark’s communities. Positive change is happening here in Newark, and the gains in math scores lead the nation’s large urban districts, but there still an unacceptable gap in achievement between our white/Asian students and their black and Latino peers. All of Newark’s students need great teachers to ensure that achievement continues to climb.
